Urban URGe Awards
Laura Stedenfeld was recently a jurist for the Urban URGe Awards, which were established in honor of her dear friend and collaborator Moji Baratloo – architect, educator, community advocate and urban designer (1954-2013). These small project grants will fund physical and/or programmatic interventions to have a realized impact in urban communities. The 22 finalists include proposals from 5 countries across 5 continents and reflect a diversity of concepts and contexts for urban innovation. The finalists’ proposals will be reviewed by an esteemed jury including Bjarke Ingels of BIG; Casey Jones of the U.S. State Department; Margaret Newman of the Municipal Arts Society; David van der Leer of the Van Alen Institute and Mabel O. Wilson of Columbia University GSAPP. The nine award winners will be announced in September 2014.
