ASLA 2015 Chicago – Perspectives

LAND COLLECTIVE Principal, David Rubin, will be participating in four sessions at the National Conference of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) in Chicago from November 6th through the 9th. First up on Friday at 1:30, a discussion on the landscape architect’s mode of expression through technology in “The LA Media Continuum: Projecting the Future of Our Profession,” with Ryan Deane, ASLA Chair of Digital Tech, Bradley Cantrell, Harvard GSD, and Daniel Tal, Ambit 3D. This session is immediately followed at 3:30 by “Landscape, Public Space, and Identity: The Present Future Condition,” a discussion on landscapes as cultural identifiers and the collaborative opportunities within graphic design, identity, and landscape. Hunter Tura, President & CEO of Bruce Mau Design, and Mark Rios, FASLA and Principal of Rios Clementi Hale Studios will be participating along with David. On Sunday, November 8th at 11:00, David will team with Trinity Simons, Director of the Mayors’ Institute on City Design, and Brian Greenan of the Baltimore Development Corporation, to present “Mayoral Leadership: Engaging Landscape Architects in the Design of Cities.” Their focus will be recent efforts in Baltimore, showcasing the The Bromo District Vision Plan. Finally, on Monday at 10:00, Linnaea TIllett of Tillett Lighting Design Associates will join David in a presentation focusing on the collaborative opportunities between lighting designers and landscape architects in a session entitled, “Combining Forces: Landscape Architect and Lighting Designer Collaboration.” It’s going to be a great conference!
