On Friday, May 20th, David Rubin, will join Matthias Hollwich, Principal of HWKN, David Hollenberg, University Architect for the University of Pennsylvania, Mark Kocent, Principal Planner for the University of Pennsylvania, and Paul Sehnert, Director of Real Estate Development, at AIA Convention 2016 in Philadelphia for a presentation on the University of Pennsylvania’s new innovation campus, Pennovation Center.
From the agenda: “The Pennovation Center, currently in construction as a rehabilitation of an existing building, will embody Penn’s goal of driving creative commercialization. It will bring together people from a variety of disciplines including design, business, engineering and science around the translation of basic research into societally beneficial products and new business ventures. The Pennovation Center will be an approximately 53,000 square foot facility that will also house Penn Engineering’s Field Research Center and a full service business incubator to support startup ventures.”
DAVID RUBIN Land Collective adapted and invigorated the master plan originally rendered by WRT to create a dynamic campus focused on a central plaza around which rehabilitated buildings and new constructs are arrayed. Working closely with HWKN and the University of Pennsylvania, the innovation campus will foster serendipitous encounters and the prospect of dialogue from which new ideas will be generated. The project anticipates opening in late 2016.
