Pencoyd Landing
View All

Pencoyd Landing is a historic industrial landscape located along the banks of the Schuylkill River, northwest of Philadelphia in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. DAVID RUBIN Land Collective is working with Penn Real Estate Group to redevelop the site to support hospitality services while also engaging the community through the creation of a public plaza and a continuation of the Cynwyd Heritage Trail. The recently restored historic Pencoyd Bridge connects pedestrians and bicyclists to the project site from Manayunk, which sits just across the river. Existing structures and materials from the historic landscape are planned to be salvaged and adaptively reused in the transformation of the site. Proposed programming will include a cafe, passive recreation opportunities and extensive seating that abstracts historic elements into joyful forms. In addition to plentiful opportunities for community interaction, the site will effectively manage roof and site stormwater through the implementation of rain gardens and bio-swales planted with native vegetation.
