Happy Holidays from Land Collective!
As 2025 comes to a close, we’d like to express our gratitude for our collaborators and supporters, as well as share some of the good that’s happened in our studio this year:
- Our Indianapolis and D.C. studios both found new homes!
- Our team has attended 13 conferences, symposiums, and summits in 12 different cities, and participated in over a dozen speaking engagements, including Today’s Horticulture Symposium at Longwood Gardens, Pennsylvania-Delaware’s American Society of Landscape Architects’ Annual Conference: Echoes and Horizons: Building the Future While Preserving the Past, the Society of Experiential Graphic Design’s Wayfinding + Placemaking Conference, Rising Urbanists’ Conference: Queering Landscapes, International Downtown Association’s Annual Conference, and two sessions at the American Society of Landscape Architects’ Annual Conference in Landscape Architecture.
- We’ve gained three new studio members: Mary, Tessa, and Sarah!
- We’ve had four wonderful interns: Serine, Carson, Calvin, and Ahmaud.
- Principal Scott Archer served as Chair of the Regional and Urban Design Committee at the American Institute of Architects. Click here to read his reflections on RUDC’s past year of programming!
- Associate Brian Chao Staresnick received his Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines Certification, the national standard for creating sustainable, accessible and equitable waterfronts (coastal, riparian and lacustrine).
- To celebrate Pride Month, members of our team attended World Pride in Washington, D.C. and GALLERY Land Collective hosted Capability Pink Designs A Pleasure Garden With You, a drag landscape architecture performance lecture by jeff joseph katz for the second year in a row.
- Our ongoing work on the New Pennsylvania Avenue Master Plan was featured in two publications: Landscape Architecture Magazine by Bradford McKee (“Putting the Venue in Pennsylvania Avenue”) and Metropolis Magazine by Steven Mufson (“Democracy Needs Room to Breathe”).
- 7 projects are currently in construction: two projects from our award-winning University of Pittsburgh Hillside Framework Plan – the Arena and Sports Performance Center and the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, White River State Park Expansion, Fort Wayne Riverfront Implementation, IU Health Downtown Campus, and two more that we can’t share just yet!
- David A. Rubin’s Antique Gardening Tool Collection was featured for the third year in a row at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Philadelphia Flower Show (our fourth flower show overall).
