Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey stands among the most esteemed public research universities in the nation. In New Jersey, Rutgers holds the distinction of being the premier public research university. As the flagship academic institution, Rutgers University-New Brunswick aspires to create a learning environment that fosters high standards for student success. The Student Affairs Master Plan (SAMP) provides a roadmap for substantial, yet incremental changes to the Rutgers New Brunswick campus to create environments that help achieve the aspirations outlined in these strategic and physical plans. The New Brunswick campus is at a pivotal moment in its history, having evolved from a system of semi-independent, federated colleges into a single university.
Working in collaboration with Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture, Land Collective focused on the connective tissue in an effort to stitch together the disparate campuses onto a common thread – Busch, Livingston, College Avenue, and Cook/Douglas – in and around New Brunswick, New Jersey, focusing on strategic links that connect students to campus.
